Mr. Phillips formed First Leaside after a successful career as an account executive, experienced trader and risk reward specialist with a major retail Canadian brokerage firm. After eight years in the securities industry specializing in tax-advantaged investments (i.e. limited partnerships), Mr. Phillips became the president of First Leaside Capital (FLC) in May of 1988. In 1992, Wimberly Apartments Limited Partnership was launched with the acquisition of Wymberly Pointe and Crossing Apartments.
For more than 22 years, Mr. Phillips' ability to source, market and manage real estate partnerships has allowed First Leaside related properties to grow to more than 2,200 residential rental units in Canada and the United States. His industry experience, combined with his commitment to First Leaside partners, were the primary factors in the First Leaside name becoming synonymous with shareholder rights.
As President of
First Leaside Securities Inc. -- a dealer member of the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC) registered in the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario where it services high net worth Canadians -- he is responsible for approximately $300-million in assets under administration.
